Tilley announces candidacy for ICCSD school board

I will serve every child and every family in our district

— Michael Tilley

(En español) Michael Tilley, a science writer and editor for the College of Dentistry and father of four children in Iowa City schools, is running for School Board in the Iowa City Community School District.

Michael has been active with his children’s schools and in discussions of pressing issues in the district for the past seven years. He is currently the Lucas Elementary representative to the Districtwide Parent Organization and has served as secretary of the Lucas PTO. He also served as the Lucas representative on the transition committee for the new Hoover building, on the ICCSD calendar committee, and on the hiring committee for the Lucas principal.

“I’m a product of public education and appreciate its power for the common good,” says Michael. “A good board must be transparent, deliberative, and cast a vision for the district as a whole, and I believe my background, experience, and values are well suited to those needs. As a board member, I will serve every child and every family in our district.”
